Instructor: Apryle Draper Class: Back Walkovers Skills Date: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday February 18th, 19th, 20th Time: 10:30am - 11:00am Age: 3rd to 8th grade Price: $60 Welcome to Back Walkover Skills, where children from K3rd through 8th grade embark on an exciting journey to master the back walkover, a fundamental gymnastics skill that combines strength, flexibility, and grace. Our program is designed to cater to varying skill levels, from beginners to aspiring gymnasts, providing a supportive environment for children to learn and progress at their own pace. Class Overview: Warm-up and Body Preparation: Each class begins with a dynamic warm-up to prepare the body for the challenges ahead. Stretching exercises focus on increasing flexibility in the shoulders, back, hips, and legs, essential for performing back walkovers safely and effectively. Back Walkover Progressions: Our experienced coaches break down the back walkover into manageable progressions suitable for children of all ages and abilities. Beginners learn basic backbend and bridge exercises to develop back flexibility and confidence upside-down. Intermediate and advanced students focus on refining their technique, mastering the transition from the bridge to the standing position, and achieving fluidity and control in their back walkovers. Strength and Conditioning: Back walkovers require core strength, shoulder strength, and leg strength. Our classes include exercises and drills specifically designed to develop these muscle groups. Children participate in age-appropriate strengthening activities such as backbend kick-ups, bridge holds, core exercises, and leg lifts to improve their back walkover performance. Balance and Coordination Challenges: Back walkovers not only require strength and flexibility but also balance and coordination. We incorporate fun challenges and activities to enhance these skills. Activities may include back walkover drills, balance beam exercises, partner spotting exercises, and coordination games. Back Walkover Skills is an inspiring gymnastics class where children develop strength, flexibility, and confidence as they master the challenging skill of the back walkover.
